Saipem’s Castoro 10 pipe-laying vessel is heading to the Baltic Sea ready to start near-shore construction work on the Gazprom-led Nord Stream 2 pipeline in Germany’s Bay of Greifswald, according to online tracking data. Onshore work has already started in Germany and Russia and Gazprom intends to launch offshore construction this summer, despite lingering uncertainty over project approval in Denmark, whose waters the 55 Bcm/yr pipeline will cross (IOD Jun.29’18).
