QP Appetite for Western Hemisphere Assets Grows

Qatar Petroleum (QP) showed Monday that its appetite for assets in the Americas is only growing, announcing it had acquired stakes in Exxon Mobil projects in Argentina’s massive Vaca Muerta Shale (OD Apr.11’18). The state giant acquired shares in seven upstream unconventional licenses in the largely untapped play in Argentina’s Neuquen Basin, taking a 30% stake in two Exxon subsidiaries, Exxon Mobil Exploration Argentina and Mobil Argentina. The licenses include active drilling plans as well as exploitation licenses with pilot drilling and production, QP said (related).
