BHP Flags $1.8 Billion Hit on US Tax Changes

BHP warned investors on Tuesday that it will take a $1.8 billion income tax hit mainly on the back of the US tax overhaul. The commodities giant said that the income tax expense will be treated as an exceptional item and includes a noncash hit of $898 million due to the recalculation of deferred taxes. Other companies, such as Royal Dutch Shell and BP, have also been hit by the US tax reforms.
