Gloves Come Off in Trans Mountain Battle

Canada’s National Energy Board (NEB) began hearings this week that will pit residents and municipalities in British Columbia against Kinder Morgan’s plan to triple the capacity of its Trans Mountain crude pipeline from Alberta to Pacific tidewater near Vancouver (OD Jan.19’18). The enlarged route would run through the communities of Coquitlam, North Surrey and Burnaby, which has emerged as a major opponent to Kinder Morgan’s plan and will testify for three days using arguments based on the adverse financial, environmental and social risks of the plan.
