US Firm to Develop Gas at Giant Iraq Oil Field

Iraq has struck a deal with Texas-based Orion Gas Pro to develop gas produced at the giant Nahr bin Umar oil field, as part of a push by Baghdad to utilize its associated gas and phase out flaring by 2021. The little-known US firm signed a memorandum of understanding with the oil ministry on Monday that envisages the US company helping to raise gas production at the field from around 25 MMcf/d now to 100-150 MMcf/d.
