Exxon Grabs Ghana License

Exxon Mobil has signed up to explore offshore Ghana, marking the US supermajor’s first foray in the West African country since the government blocked its $4 billion bid for a stake in the Jubilee field in 2010. The arrival of Exxon in Ghana is the latest sign of a revival of interest in the potential of the West African Transform Margin and follows a similar deal inked in December by US Kosmos Energy with BP for five offshore blocks in Cote d’Ivoire.
