The government of Curacao has pulled out of a deal with China's Guangdong Zhenrong Energy (GZE) to upgrade and operate the island's 350,000 barrel per day oil refinery. In a Dec. 31 press release, the Curacao prime minister's office said it had sent GZE a letter announcing its decision to nullify a 2016 memorandum of understanding in which the Chinese firm committed to investing $5.5 billion in the refinery project (OD Dec.14'16).
