Markets are gearing up for quarterly updates from US supermajors Chevron and Exxon Mobil, who are shifting their upstream focus back to the US onshore. The two largest US oil companies will report earnings before the market opens on Friday and host consecutive conference calls with analysts following their releases. Exxon is expected to update its plans to ramp up drilling in the Permian Basin, where it has signed a series of acquisitions, including the $5.6 billion takeover of privately held Bopco - formerly owned by the Bass family of Texas - on the Delaware Basin side of the play (OD Jan.18’17).
