Royalty holder Viper Energy Partners is upsizing a plan to tap equity markets for funding to complete an acquisition of mineral interests in the Permian Basin, showing there is still a strong market for shares linked to the booming tight oil play. Midland-based Viper, which is controlled by US independent Diamondback Energy, plans to offer 14 million units - up from a planned 13 million - for gross proceeds of $206.5 million. Underwriters have the option to purchase another 2.1 million to cover over-allotments.
