Exxon Enters Suriname Offshore

Exxon Mobil said on Thursday that it has signed a production-sharing contract (PSC) for a deepwater block offshore Suriname, marking the US major's first upstream entry into the South American country. The company said a subsidiary and partners Hess Corp. and Statoil inked the PSC with Suriname state oil firm Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname to develop deepwater Block 59, located about 190 miles (305 km) offshore the country's capital city, Paramaribo.
