The Trump administration’s promises to issue the most expansive offshore leasing plan in decades may end up ringing hollow as the timeline for the plan still isn’t clear after a federal court ruling sidelined its progress. After a federal district court ruling in late March in Alaska, US Interior Secretary David Bernhardt told the Wall Street Journal the offshore leasing plan for 2019-24 had been placed on hold (OD Apr.26’19). But since then, Interior officials have given somewhat unclear statements on timing.
