Canada’s struggling oil and gas sector will be closely watching national elections on Oct. 21, where trade-offs between energy and the environment, particularly climate change, have been a major issue. The vote will put the current government, in which Justin Trudeau’s Liberal party holds a slender majority with 177 seats, against challenges from the Conservative Party (97 seats), the New Democratic Party (NDP) (40 seats) and a handful of others.
