Occidental Petroleum is teaming with a Canadian technology firm on plans to build the largest direct-air carbon capture system in the world to fuel its enhanced oil recovery (EOR) operations in the Permian Basin. Oxy subsidiary Oxy Low Carbon Ventures (OLCV) and Carbon Engineering have agreed to move ahead with engineering and design of a plant that could pull 500 kilotons of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air every year.
