Diamond Sells Stacked Rig to P&A Player

Drilling contractor Diamond Offshore has sold one of its cold-stacked midwater rigs to Aberdeen-based Well-Safe Solutions, which plans to convert the vessel into a “bespoke” plug- and-abandonment (P&A) unit. Well-Safe announced the deal this week, saying it intends to invest around $100 million on several upgrades that will make the semisubmersible Ocean Guardian suitable for P&A jobs in the North Sea and in other regions around the globe.
