The United Arab Emirates in June ousted Saudi Arabia from its usual top spot on Japan’s list of crude suppliers for the second month running, as the major Asian importer doubled down on light, sour crude from the emirates. As expected, Japan did not import any Iranian crude again in June following the end of US sanctions waivers in early May, mirroring the situation in neighboring South Korea (related). Japan last imported Iranian crude in April when it took in 141,000 b/d.
