The number of active drilling rigs targeting oil in the US continued to slide last week, according to data from oil-field services provider Baker Hughes, propelled by more reductions in the Permian Basin. The US oil rig count fell by three during the week ended May 17 to 802, Baker Hughes’ data show, down more than 40 from the same week a year ago and a 14-month low.
