Permian Boosts Exxon, Other Areas Sag

Exxon Mobil upstream production soared as its massive ramp-up in the Permian Basin paid dividends, but the extra barrels were not enough to offset weakness in the US major’s refining, downstream and natural gas divisions. Exxon’s production from the Permian Basin soared to more than 274,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in the second quarter, up 21% from its average volumes in the first quarter and up almost 90% from its average in the second quarter of 2018.
