Equinor Nabs Caesar Tonga Stake

Equinor has upset Delek Group’s planned $965 million purchase of Royal Dutch Shell’s 22.45% interest in the producing Caesar Tonga field in the US Gulf of Mexico after exercising its preferential rights to the nonoperated stake (OD Apr.12’19). The Norwegian major said the acquisition of Shell’s stake in the deepwater Caesar Tonga field at the same price would increase its interest to 46%. Operator Anadarko, which is being acquired by Occidental, will hold 33.75%, and Chevron will retain a 20.25% interest in the field, located in the Green Canyon area of the US Gulf.
