Regulator Clashes With Pemex Over Reserves

Mexico’s upstream oil and gas regulatorCNH has refused to sign off on some of state-owned Pemex’s reported probable and possi-ble reserves for the second year running.While the agency has approved the compa-ny’s stated proven reserves (1P) of 13.8 billionbarrels of oil equivalent, and also approvedmost of its probable and possible reserves, it has— for the second year running — withheld ap-proval of some of the state monopoly’s reservesbecause its independent evaluation differedfrom Pemex’s by more than 10%.
