Colombia produced 927,000 b/d of oil inMay, closing in on a government target of 1million b/d by the end of this year, mines andenergy minister Carlos Rodado Noriega wasquoted as saying last week (OD Apr.8,p5).The new figure, up 19.5% from year-agonumbers, was attributable to rising and newoutput, notably from heavy oil fields in theonshore Llanos Basin, and the opening ofnew pipeline infrastructure. Transport bot-tlenecks, exacerbated by heavy rains andsubsequent flooding, slowed productiongrowth last year and early this year.
