An Anadarko Petroleum executive saysthat federal government statistics for is-suance of deepwater drilling permits in theUS Gulf of Mexico overstate the pace atwhich new wells are being approved.The Bureau of Ocean Energy Manage-ment, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEM-RE) says that since the deepwater drillingmoratorium in the Gulf of Mexico was liftedlast October, permits have been approvedfor 41 unique wells that require a subseacontainment capability.
