Kuwait Oil Co. (KOC) is pushing on with plans to develop its Ratqa heavy oil field straddling the border with Iraq — where it is known as Rumaila-and will tender initial surface work next year, an official said this week. KOC deputy chairman and deputy managing director of technical services, Mazan al-Sardi, tells Oil Daily that the company is working on tenders for front-end engineering and design right now, and "we hope by next year some time we'll be in the market."
