Alaska has set up a task force to examine the potential for "tight oil" production from shales in the North Slope-the area which already accounts for the bulk of the state's conventional oil production. The task force, established by the Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR), will also consider the infrastructure and resources that shale oil development would require.
