Canada’s Ensign Energy Services has agreed to pay US$510 million plus US$30 million in working capital to buy Rowan’s land drilling business which comprises 30 rigs. For Rowan the deal marks the completion of its transformation into a “pure-play” offshore drilling contractor, following the sale of its manufacturing operations earlier this year.
