The US slapped sanctions on 11 Iranian, Chinese and United Arab Emirates (UAE) companies on Thursday for their alleged roles in facilitating Iranian crude and petrochemical exports, tightening the screws on the web of US sanctions that has already seen Iran's crude exports fall to historic lows. The US State Department announced new sanctions Thursday for transactions related to purchases of Iranian oil products on Iran-based Abadan Refining Co.; three Chinese companies: Zhihang Ship Management Co., New Far International Logistics and Sino Energy Shipping; and UAE-based Chemtrans Petrochemicals Trading.
