BHP Requests Trion Evaluation Extension

Australian operator BHP has requested more time to evaluate the deepwater Trion discovery offshore Mexico. The original evaluation period granted to BHP by Mexican upstream regulator CNH is set to expire in March 2021, after which the company would need to make a declaration of commerciality, according to the agency. BHP is looking to extend the evaluation period for Trion, which it operates in partnership with Mexican state producer Pemex, until the end of 2022.
