Exxon Wins Sanctions Fine Challenge

Exxon Mobil has won a court decision challenging a $2 million fine levied against the company by the US government, alleging that its dealings in Russia violated federal sanctions after Russia'ss takeover of a portion of Ukraine. US District Judge Jane Boyle ruled that the US Treasury Department did not give Exxon proper notice that its dealings with Russia'ss state-controlled Rosneft would run afoul of sanctions put in place in 2014 by the Obama administration to punish Russia for its involvement in Ukraine.
