The number of active drilling rigs targeting oil in the US slid for the 17th consecutive week, according to data from oil-field services provider Baker Hughes, as shale producers continue to contract drilling activity despite stabilizing oil prices. Baker Hughes’ data show that the US oil rig count fell by four in the week ending Jul. 10 to a total of 181, putting it on the cusp of a 15-year nadir.
