Officials Find Source of Florida Methane Cloud

Florida state regulators say they may have solved the origin of a mystery cloud of methane that was 12 miles wide and spotted by a satellite in early May. The state’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) said its investigation shows that the methane — estimated at about 300 tons — was vented during what it says was the intentional emergency shutdown of a natural gas compression facility on May 2 in Bradford County.
