Schlumberger Continues Corporate Overhaul

Oil-field services giant Schlumberger is continuing to significantly reshape its business as it comes to grips with an upstream oil market that has structurally changed in the wake of the latest commodity price collapse. Schlumberger said it has slashed its workforce by some 21,000, cutting its headcount by nearly a fifth and bringing it to its lowest levels since before the US shale boom. It had 105,000 employees at the end of 2019.
