The US Gulf of Mexico’s offshore operators have quickly shaken off Tropical Storm Cristobal, and by Thursday only 243,000 b/d of crude — 13.1% of daily production — remained shut in. The US Coast Guard and the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement did not report any damage to the more 643 fixed offshore facilities from the storm. Although its winds never topped more than 69 mph, Cristobal was able to force widespread evacuations and shut-ins of oil and natural gas production from Jun. 4 through Thursday (OD Jun.5’20).
