US Dems Push Program to Address Orphan Wells

Democratic lawmakers in the US House of Representatives are pushing the idea of a federal program to ensure that increased bankruptcies don’t worsen the problem of widespread abandoned oil and gas wells that leak methane into the atmosphere. US Rep. Alan Lowenthal (D-California) floated the idea during a virtual forum held by House Natural Resources Committee Democrats Monday in which he suggested that such a program could also create jobs for unemployed oil and gas workers.
