Petrobras Moves Forward With Buzios Development

Brazil's state controlled Petrobras has started contracting processes for three new floating platforms for the offshore Buzios field as the company forges forward with key pre-salt developments with half of its prior workforce and ongoing difficulties posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Over the next 18 months, Petrobras plans to contract floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels, drilling rigs, equipment and infrastructure to develop the Buzios play, Petrobras said Friday. The FPSOs include Almirante Tamandare (also known as Buzios 6), slated to come on line in the second half of 2024, with processing capacity of 225,000 barrels per day of oil and 12 million cubic meters per day of natural gas. The unit will be the largest operating FPSO in Brazil and one of the largest in the world, Petrobras said.
