Shell Delays FID on Whale Project in US Gulf

Royal Dutch Shell is delaying a final investment decision (FID) on its deepwater Whale development in the US Gulf of Mexico until 2021 due in part to “supply chain constraints,” according to a source close to the project. The sanction of Whale, which Shell has called one of the biggest deepwater discoveries of the last decade, was previously due to come this year, with start-up due in 2022 (OD Feb.1’18).
