US Treasury Rolls Out Carbon Capture Tax Guide

The US Treasury Department has unveiled a long-awaited draft road map for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) operators and others looking to take advantage of tax incentives aimed at fueling investments in carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) projects. Treasury issued draft guidance last week ahead of a 60-day comment period. The draft guidelines outline monitoring requirements for projects to demonstrate long-term underground storage of injected carbon dioxide, among other regulations.
