Colorado Council Extends Permit Moratorium

The city council in Broomfield, Colorado, has approved a six-month extension to a moratorium on processing oil and natural gas applications that it originally passed in May 2019. On May 28, 2019, the council passed a six-month moratorium after officials said it needed time to adopt revisions to its ordinances after legislators passes state Senate Bill 181, which gave local governments more authority over E&P operations (OD Sep.18’19). That moratorium was extended on Dec. 3, 2019, and it was extended again to Jun. 4. The newest extension will expire Dec. 4.
