Crosslinking by electron beaming of polymers for welding cables

Looking at the history of electron beaming technology, Raychem Corp. in 1957 became the first company to process electron beam crosslinked wire, using polyvinyl chloride and polyethelene polymers. Bell Telephone adopted crosslinking PVC in 1970 and later expanded it to tetra-ethylene glycol-dimethacrylate, or TEGDM. Union Carbide Corp. in 1980 developed a compound consisting mainly of ethylene vinyl acetate and aluminum trihydrate.
