Proximity and photoelectric sensors live at the bottom of automation yramid, and hel support the entire structure. Though some people think of them as simply com,modity items-bought from the lowest-cost supplier, and dropped into place without a lot of thought-they are anything but. Capabilities vary greatly, as di size and a host of other key specifications. Suppliers are working hard to meet the growing demands of prox and photoelectric sensor users for devices that are smaller in size, offer greater sensing distances, and cost less than earlier generations.
