Honeywell 'reshapes' I/O with new Experion R300

The new series of keyhole-shaped modules takes up less space in the control room and directs heat flow more evenly through the cabinet. The Experion distributed control system (DCS), which was launched two years ago, has undergone a major redesign of its I/O subsystem. The upgraded system is called the R300. A major part of the R300 redesign is the new Series C I/O. The controllers, I/O modules, fieldbus interfaces, and firewalls are housed in a radically different 'vertical rack' design, purposely slanted at an 18-degree angle in order to minimise the control room footprint and reduce energy, installation and maintenance costs.
