Russian Gas Output Grows Despite Lower Exports

Russian gas production remained on an upward track in October despite a drop in exports to Europe for the first time this year. Nationwide production increased 2.6% on the year to 62.67 Bcm, according to preliminary data issued by the energy ministry (table). State-run pipeline gas export monopoly Gazprom was the key contributor, due chiefly to preparations for the Russian winter.
