Gazprom Eyes Decarbonized Gas Opportunities

Russia's Gazprom is looking into decarbonized gas opportunities, as it seeks to adapt to Europe's long-term low-carbon goals and keep monetizing its vast resources in its key export market, Deputy CEO Alexander Medvedev said last week. Gazprom is testing equipment to add hydrogen into natural gas, which in two or three years could be put into commercial operation, Medvedev told the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum. He said Gazprom is in talks with European partners over using such equipment both in Russia and in the EU, primarily Germany.
