The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline has received all the necessary permits from home country Russia to carry out construction. The latest permit will allow the project to proceed as planned despite strong opposition and sanctions threats from the US. T h e G a z p r o m - o w n e d , Switzerland-domiciled Nord Stream 2 AG project company said this week that it had received permits for the installation of an underwater pipeline in Russia’s territorial waters from the environmental watchdog, Rosprirodnadzor. The permit covers some 114 km in Russian waters, where works should start 'in the near future.' The ministry of construction and utilities earlier issued a permit to start building the line onshore Russia.
