BHP (AU:BHP) has pleased investors with its planned US shale-oil exit, but there could be more good news to come thanks to a significant board appointment and, if week-old analysis is correct, a 50% share price rise to A$40(24 pounds;US$31). The new director is Terry Bowen, not a man well-known to international investors, but someone with a track-record of strict financial discipline at other companies he has helped manage and, at 50 years-old, a potential candidate for the top executive job at BHP when the current CEO, 60-year-old Andrew Mackenzie, retires.
