Zhongwang USA’s proposed acquisition of Aleris Corp has expired andwill not proceed, with both sides characterizing regulatory scrutiny ofthe deal as insurmountable, the companies said on MondayNovember 13.The deal, which has been in limbo since the original September 1expiration date, was finally terminated on November 12, bothcompanies confirmed.The earlier multiple extensions to the deal were “to allow enoughtime to fully explore avenues to complete the transaction,” aspokesman for United States-based Aleris said.
