A total of 207,000 tpy of aluminium capacity will be transferred fromfive smelters in China’s Henan province in a bid to easeenvironmental pressures in the region, Metal Bulletin has learned.The central Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT)has opened the transfer of capacity quota to the whole country,meaning any qualifying smelter is eligible to apply for the quota,subject to the approval from related provincial governments andMIIT, according to an official statement published on the Henangovernment website on Thursday August 10.
