Morocco starts probe into extension of rebar, wire rod import duty

Morocco's ministry of industry, investment and commerce has started an investigation into whether to extend the application of an import duty on rebar and wire rod shipments.The investigation was begun on Monday August 13 at the request of the Moroccan steelmakers' association (ASM).Since January 2016, Morocco has applied a tax of 550 Moroccan dirhams ($57) per tonne on imports of rebar and wire rod, once annual quotas for the respective products have been filled.
