CIS FLAT STEEL: Tight supply, active restocking send HRC prices upward

Export prices for hot-rolled coil and cold-rolled coil from the Commonwealth of Independent States have gone up again on lower availability and active restocking, sources told Fastmarkets on Monday December 9. Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel HRC, export, fob Black Sea, CIS was $425-435 per tonne on Monday, up $20 per tonne from $405-415 per tonne a week earlier. “There is “panic“ purchasing now because buyers are of the opinion that the market has hit a bottom so they want to restock before prices increase more and more,“ a buyer source in North Africa said.
