Zinc, lead markets remain in deficit in first 11 months of 2018

The refined zinc market showed a deficit of 326,000 tonnes during the first 11 months of 2018, with reported stocks decreasing by 161,000 tonnes over the same period, the International Lead & Zinc Study Group (ILZSG) said on Monday January 21.From January to November, the zinc mining industry produced 11.8 million tonnes, with total production reaching 12.1 million tonnes. Both figures were in line with 11.60 million tonnes and 12.1 million tonnes, respectively, in the corresponding months of 2017.Metal usage over that period was also similar, with the figure for 2018 being a total of 12.4 million tonnes, compared with 12.5 million tonnes in 2017.
