French market returns to growth and exports flourish in the East

The Federation des Industries de la Parfumerie (FIP) has announced a bumper set of results for 2006.The French trade association says that the industry saw its 40th consecutive year of growth,with sales rising 5.7% to erou15.23bn at manufacturers'prices.This doubled the growth rate of the French economy and represented the French industry's best performance for five years.Sales within France were up 3.5% to erou6.54bn -a good performance taking into account the maturity of the market,says the FIR Selective distribution sales made the strongest showing,with a rise of 6.5%.Mass market sales continued their recovery,putting on 3.4%,while pharmacy sales growth slowed to 1 % after four years of strong gains.Direct sales,unfortunately,let the side down with a 1.5% drop.
