Patients with chronic pain typically have a long pain history which includes multiple attempts at pain management that have proven ineffective, often leaving them disabled, frightened and frustrated. Many have co-morbid conditions and treatments which must be taken into account, and most display evidence of psychosocial factors that compound their condition1,2.
